À Rome La Nuit

All Month
French photographer Hervé Gloaguen, a member of the renowned Viva Agency, stood out in the mid-1970s as one of the few in France to embrace color photography, breaking from the black-and-white humanist tradition focused on social life. During a journey through Rome, he captured young people gathering around fountains, café terraces, and restaurants, revealing intimate corners of the Eternal City. He quickly turned his lens toward the mysteries of nightlife, drawn by its atmosphere and glowing lights. These vibrant images—taken between 1975 and 1995—form the heart of À Rome la nuit, an exhibition at the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, on view through September 6. The show is part of a broader cultural program celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Rome–Paris twinning, highlighting the artistic and creative ties between the two capitals. museodiromaintrastevere.it

Mario Schifano

All Month
Until 12 July, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni will be hosting a major exhibition dedicated to Mario Schifano, one of the most influential and popular figures in recent Italian art. The exhibition traces Schifano’s artistic journey through his key visual innovations—from early material experiments and iconic monochromes to works shaped by photographic language and art-historical themes. It also explores his famous TV landscapes, images in motion, his blending of photography and painting, and his more recent works, marked by an explicit sense of social engagement. The show also features a dialogue with Marco Tirelli, whose 42 works form a single large-scale installation from the project Anni Luce, alongside Romasuona, an exhibition celebrating the extraordinary and music scene of 1970s Rome. palazzoesposizioniroma.it

The Face of Women

All Month
As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Italian Republic, the Italian Senate of the Republic and the Ministry of Culture present The Face of Women. The exhibition highlights centuries of female artistic talent and ingenuity through works by outstanding women artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Sofonisba Anguissola, Lavinia Fontana, and Rosalba Carriera, alongside the stories of the women who helped draft Italy’s Constitution. The exhibition traces women’s artistic presence from the 15th century, when some Italian women first carved out professional roles in a male-dominated field, through the early 19th century, when their presence became more established. senato.it
