Imperial Night at Baths of Caracalla

October 15
On October 15 only, the impressive Baths of Caracalla will exceptionally open their doors after dark for Notturno Imperiale (Imperial Night), offering a rare chance to experience one of Rome’s most spec- tacular archaeological sites in a com- pletely new light. As daylight fades and evening illumination takes over, the monumental ruins, underground pas- sages and vast spaces of the ancient baths take on an atmospheric, almost timeless quality. A unique after-dark experience, and one not to be missed. Also on view at the Baths of Caracalla (until January 10, 2027) is an exhibition dedicated to the great photographer Frank Horvat, featuring 72 images span- ning fashion, social reportage, land- scapes, travel, and portraits.

Keith Haring

From October 6
Until April 11, 2027, the Museum of Rome at Palazzo Braschi presents Keith Haring – Art without borders, a large exhibition ded- icated to the artist who transformed the simple line into public language, the street into high art, and the image into a univer- sal message. The exhibition brings together more than 140 works and archival materials, exceptionally loaned by the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection, alongside significant loans from public and private collections. Tracing Haring’s artistic journey from his early years in New York and the iconic Subway Drawings to his political posters, sculptures, paintings and final works, the show offers a compre- hensive overview of his career. Throughout his life, Haring continually expanded his visual vocabulary while remaining faithful to a sim- ple belief: art should be accessible to every- one. Radiant children, barking dogs, dancing figures, angels, hearts, televisions and pyra- mids are more than recurring motifs; togeth- er they form a collective and universal visual language that continues to resonate across cultures and generations. As Haring himself declared, “The public has a right to art. Art is for everybody.” That conviction remains at the heart of this exhibition.

Pontormo

From October 8
One of the leading figures of Italian Mannerism, Pontormo broke away from Renaissance balance with weightless figures, elongated bodies, and surreal color pal- ettes. Until February 7, Scuderie del Quirinale will be rediscovering the work of this great master with the exhibition Pontormo. Born in Pontorme (Tuscany) as Jacopo Carucci, the artist moved to Florence at a very young age to enter one of the city’s most important artistic workshops, where he trained under Andrea del Sarto. His talent was soon recognized by masters such as Raphael and Michelangelo, who became his main influ- ences before he started developing his own personal and innovative artistic language. The exhibition brings together masterpiec- es including the celebrated Visitation from Carmignano, alongside carefully selected works that reveal the originality of Pontormo’s vision. His art captures the sense of uncer- tainty and emotional intensity of the 16th century, drawing visitors into a unique and deeply expressive visual universe.
